Insight please.

so i have a really good friend who moved to ca a couple of years ago.

over the last several years i have always gone out to her and her family in ca.

when she and her family come into town, i get the great pleasure of hanging out with her and her in-laws, because they are trying to get everyone's visit in one.

It's hard for me to follow who's who in your story (my fault) but when it comes to holidays and family/friend gatherings why should we punish ourselves?

I have family that can drag me down to the pit of dispair if I let them, I have to leave. I correct them, and then leave (usually about the way they treat the children). That way I don't harbor too many negative feelings on my way out the door.

Now, there is the aspect of selflessness. We can put ourselves out as an act of love for others, but if we do not have a happy heart in doing it, then it is not sincere. It is better to be sincere in all things.

i just could not believe it when i stumbled across this forum recently.

i was actually doing research for my dad who wanted to see the world's viewpoint of the failed 1975 prophecy.

he came into the truth less than three years ago and though my mom has been a witness since she was a teenager she never spoke of that particular time period to him.

Several years ago when the Watchtower started really pushing the evils of the Internet, it became obvious to me that it was only a matter of time.

People use the Internet for everything today! Banking, research, bussiness, education, communications, you name it. There is no way they can continue to convince people that the Internet is evil.

taking the position that jesus christ is, in fact, the son of god who paid the price for our sins, i dont believe our affiliation with any christian religion "gives a person an 'an edge'" in their approval by god and christ.

Thank you Blondie for posting that.

Very well written, it applies to all religion, churches, and denominations. When it becomes a crime to question the religion, it is time to walk out the door.

Edited to say: However I don't agree with the statement about the primary goal being self preservation..I'd have to think more on that but when something like the Salvation Army comes to mind, their primary goal is to feed and shelter the homeless.

my soon to be ex-husband's father is the presiding overseer of the congregation and his entire family is very spiritual - including my husband's sister and her husband who serve in gilead.. to make a long story short, my husband and i used to serve in bethel but eventually left.

we moved around the nyc area where we both took on full time jobs, pursued our four year degrees, and led pretty successful lives.

i left the organization, because i was tired of gossip, etc and half of my family was disfellowshipped.

I'd photocopy the love letters and send them by registered mail to your father-in-law. I'd then send them to every single person in the offices of where your husband works. Oh hell, I'd also send them to people in the congregation your in-laws go to. Perhaps your father in law will get his head out of his ass at that point.

Hi and welcome to the board!

You got some very good advice on what you are going through. I agree with Jgnat on something she pulled out. These people are not the spiritual people you think they are. Going through the motions of being a JW doesn't have to have anything to do with spiritual matters. It has everything to do with religious, physical, shallow matters.

Spiritual matters are matters of the heart, namely love. Unconditional all encompassing self sacrificing love in the name of Jesus is what a Christian is supposed to strive for. Have they been loving you? Rotten fruit is hanging on their crooked trees.

It may sound harsh and I wish you were not going through this but...

...it sounds like your life will be much better off without these people in it.

Hang in there life gets so much better.

Religion will continue until it extinguishes itself. It appears that could take some time judging by the comments in this thread.

Religion has nothing to do with a personal experience with the Creator of Life.

When I almost died in the hospital I had a near death experience. I have no doubt of who I am, where I came from and where I am going.

My best friend is in the hospital dieing (ICU), she has been on life support and they took her off two days ago. When I seen her yesterday she said;

"My angel is here"

"I died and went to heaven, God gave me two choices stay in heaven or come back"

"I want to be in heaven but there are things I have to tell my children"

She is lingering between two worlds gasping for every breath, as was I. You can rationalize it all you want, I have no doubts anymore.

There is a physical body and there is a spiritual one.

The origins of the Star of Bethlehem - was Satan really behind it?

there's an interesting dicsussion going on in channelc about the origins of the star of bethlehem.. "the wt continues to teach that the star was in fact a light from satan, who was seeking to kill the child jesus.

what i noted from actually reading the account, is that there is no justifiable proof from scripture, that what the wt teaches about that light being from satan, is true.".

....... and i have to concur.

The Watchtower has had to focus on demeaning the diety of Jesus Christ, that way they can take His place.

Matthew 2:2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

"Obesiance" is just another way to hide His diety.

These people traveled so far to curtsy to a baby......stupid

my dearest daughter-in-law, whyamihere (brookie), just had four of her wisdom teeth yanked out this morning.

she is heavily sedated (as usual) and is thrilled to have legal narcotics available to her every 4-6 hours.

she even looks cute with wads of cotton stuck in her cheeks.. please send her some love!.

Menopause/Hormone Imbalance -- Need Girlfriend Advice!

here's the situation: i'm 51 and had a hysterectomy a year ago.

i'm on premarin.

physically i feel fine but mentally i'm kind of foggy-headed, over-emotional sometimes and detached at others, and, um, not entirely reasonable a good bit of the time.

I had a total hysterectomy in 1992, I was 32.

What I do now balances me out perfectly. I quit the premarin as soon as I learned it was the cause of so much suffering. The mares life really sucks and the offspring go to a horrific slaughter. Plus the facts are it causes breast cancer. They just released a study and breast cancer rates are WAY down and researchers think it is due to women giving up premarin.

I use a progesterone creme called "Natural Progesterone Creme" by "Source Naturals" once a day.

1 Estroven, generic.
